About me
It's great to meet you! My name is Nate Birt. I write supernatural thrillers, my most recent being "That Awful Box: A Novella" available on Kindle. I'm a twice-published nonfiction author (one book on climate change/DEI communication strategies, the other on human embryo adoption - not a horror book, I promise!). My day job is as founder of the social impact communication consulting firm Silver Maple Strategies, where I help nonprofit executives accelerate climate change solutions.
Previously, I served as an executive at Farm Journal, where I worked for a decade. Before that, I earned my writing and editing chops as a journalist in consumer media. My portfolio includes work for AOL/Patch.com, the Boonville (Mo.) Daily News, the Boulder (Colo.) Daily Camera, the Columbia Missourian, the Columbia (Mo.) Tribune, Credit Sesame, DealFlow, the Detroit Free Press, Entrepreneur, Fast Company, ScribbleLive, Social5, Speechify, The Washington Post and Visual.ly.
I hold a master’s degree in journalism and bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Missouri. My wife, Julie, and I are parents to four children and many chickens, two dogs and a cat. We farm eight acres in rural eastern Missouri.
